Description
One of the most impressive scenic waterfalls in Virginia, Falling Springs Waterfall near Covington, VA, and West Virginia state line, was known to even Thomas Jefferson who exclaimed it's beauty. Even in October during a drought this waterfall is impressive and a bit dangerous to hike to the base with slippery leaves and moss to contend with. During the summer months, the more agile like to swim, get wet and explore the caves behind the falls. Be sure and photograph the small meandering stream leading to the falls along the upper ridge where you will find a rope to swing and drop into the river.
