Description
Daffodil, Cyclamineus Types Cyclamineus daffodils received their name from their short-necked flowers, which are sharply angled toward the stem, resembling cyclamen blooms. Many of these daffodil varieties feature petals that flare back away from the cup, creating even greater similarity to cyclamen. Their flowers are usually borne singly on each stem and may be yellow or white with a cup of the same or a contrasting color. These easy-care spring flowers are resistant to deer and rabbits, and grow best in dry summer conditions.
Cyclamineus Daffodil Jetfire are pictured here. These fabulous narcissus pack superior color and form in miniature size. Jonquillas delight the eye with 1-5 flowers per stem and corona-type cups that are usually wider than they are long. Cyclamineus bring a different perspective to the garden with their short "necks" that present a single flower at an acute angle to the stem. Short-cupped and fragrant, tazettas produce clusters of flowers. Both groups are perfect for rock gardens, borders, beds, window boxes and naturalizing.
This flower photo was taken in my garden in Virginia.
