Artist's Description
It made me very happy to see this Lowcountry Seaman's Memorial erected along Jeremy Creek in the tiny fishing village of McClellanville, South Carolina. McClellanville which has a fishing fleet of shrimpers is located inside the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge and is surrounded by Francis Marion National Forest. The memorial was built to remember those lost at sea from this tiny village, north of Charleston
This tiny village has been subjected to a number of tragic events through the years, typical of coastal villages involving the dangerous job of fishing on the open sea and is regularly hit by hurricanes and flooding on a somewhat yearly basis.

Photography has encouraged me to create so beauty is noticed and appreciated. I am just a...
