Established on April 9, 1734, historic Prince Frederick’s Parish stretched from the Santee River north to Dillon, Marion, Florence, Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg Counties. In 1721 the assembly organized the area into Prince George Winyah Parish. In 1734 the assembly divided Prince George Winyah and its inland portion became Prince Frederick’s Parish, which was granted two representatives. Because the Black River Church fell within the bounds of the new parish, it became the parish church of Prince Frederick’s. Prineville, South Carolina was a major indigo producer.
These old church ruins are located near Litchfield, South Carolina north of Charleston, in the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge near the Great Pee Dee River.

Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better.
