Photographers search for the perfect landscape...this day I came as close to perfection as I can imagine near the Cotton Hill Mill. I scampered down, not really scampered, the rocky hillside near Fayetteville, Virginia, not really getting a good view of the bottom vista...but hopeful the view would be worth the trouble to scale the hillside. I was not disappointed. The New River Gorge is a delight to the eye in any season. The road along route #16 is wonderful for West Virginia waterfall viewing. This waterfall is near the Cotton Hill Mill in Fayette County, WV, part of "The New River Gorge National River" lands. This summer day I could have spent the rest of the day relaxing beside this small wonderful West Virginia mountain waterfall cascade. The aqua-marine crystal clear waters below the the soft waterfall, the textured chartreuse moss, the late afternoon golden sun made my day. Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
