Predictions for wonderful sunrises and sunsets had not materialized this winter week in Florida. I looked at the hourly weather forecasts for more opportunities. Around sunset there were suppose to be clouds in the east, so off we went to chase the clouds in Palm Coast at the Washington Oaks State Park.

Several places in Florida host coquina rocks, made of small bits of colorful coquina shells which give the sand a unique color. The clouds overhead created great contrasts over rust sand. This shot reflects a fast shutter speed to catch the roughness of the surf against the spiked coquina rocks. Edited in black and white.

Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
