Passing through Ortesei in the Dolomite Mountains in the South Tryol region, we couldn't help but notice a love of outdoor art in sculptures and graffiti. One of my favorites was this primitive horse wall art graffiti on the side of a building. This is a charmong old town in a central location near many of the National Parks.

Urtijëi is a town of 4,637 inhabitants in South Tyrol in northern Italy. It occupies the Val Gardena within the Dolomites, a mountain chain that is part of the Alps. A number of national parks encoumpas this area including Parco Naturale Puez Odle, Parco Naturale Sciliar-Catinaccio and St. Magdalena.

Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
