This scenic log cabin photograph, Polly Woods Ordinary is one the few remaining features of 18th century settlement in the Peaks of Otter area. This historic, small log structure acted as a tavern and is located at the base of Sharp Top Mountain at the Peaks of Otter Lodge on the edge of a small lake, along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
