Roaming the back unpaved roads around McClellanville can be magical. Meandering and trying to avoid getting my husband stuck, he was gunning the car to bypass the mucky road when I spotted this swamp area that took my breathe away as we passed by. After getting back on firmer ground I hiked back to photograph this mysterious area of Bald Cyprus trees being mirrored in the still waters below intermixed with scenic ground palm Palmetto plants in January. It was obvious the cold temperatures of winter were being thwarted in this protected little enclave of warm temperatures.
Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
