Artist's Description
I set out to go to Utakleiv beach in Vestvågøy, Vestagoy in the lofoten Islands. On the way we passed by Vik, and Haukland beach. There were gale force winds, lots of fog and dismal conditins. At Vik, there is a tiny, what looked like a one room church on a hill with a tiny cemetery at the base of Holandsmaeten, Akseltinden and Himmelstinden mountains, overlooking the Vikspollen beach. The first time I tried to photograh this Vik church I gave up. I could barely stand up the winds were so intense. I came back later when the winds were a bit less intense and managed to get this foreboding landscape. The day was dark and moody in early January when the sun still does not rise above the horizon.

About Norma Brandsberg
Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
