Description
The first few days in the Lofoten Islands were full of challenges. Here there were gale force winds, low lighting because Norway is mostly in darkness in January. Tim, my husband watched from the car, holding his breath, knowing he couldn't protect me as I tried to protect myself and my equipment from the winds and rogue waves and still get the shot I wanted. I crouched behind a nearby boulder, close to the ground, trying to frame my shot. It was the only way I could hold the camera still enough to photograph, the winds were so strong. There was a tiny lull in the winds I was able to scamper to the boulder. There was enough light to shoot, but fast shutter speeds to catch the waves present problems. Here is my third edited shot at Vik beach edited to black and white with a muted border around the edges as a panorama. I had hoped to find wonderful tidal pools in this location, but instead found a raging sea ready to gobble me up if I wasn't careful.
