On a camping trip in late May, we happened on this atmospheric, picturesque, gristmill landscape. We have been back many times since.The Glade Creek Grist Mill is located very near the West Virginia border, near Virginia, in the Jefferson National Forest in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains along a picturesque West Virginia mountain stream. Three old mills were disassembled, moved and relocated here, by the waterfalls to be used to reassembled and build this new mill in 1976. This old mill is much loved and represents one of over 500 mills that used to be in Virginia and West Virginia.

Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
