Wow, what a view! The Gardena Pass/Passo and Sela high ridge, is framed by yellow alpine poppies the end of June with the mountains in the background. There was a whole field of them, set against the Dolomite Mountains.

Gardena Pass is a high mountain pass in the Dolomites of the South Tyrol in northeast Italy, part of the Italian Alps. At an elevation of 2,136 m or over 7,000 ft above sea level, the pass connects Sëlva in the Val Gardena on the west side with Corvara in the Val Badia.

Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
