Artist's Description
I've been trying to photograph Rainbow Row in Charleston, South Carolina every time we visit, but haven't been happy until now. Rainbow Row is lined with tourists, or the weather is bad or I just haven't been able to get them right to stitch together to get a panorama image.
Rainbow Row is a series of 13 brightly-colored houses along the waterfront is one of Charleston’s most visited spots. Rainbow Row were not always brightly colored. These historic homes were first constructed around 1740 and were used by merchants who would run their business on the ground floor and live on the top floor.
After the Civil War, this area was rather run-down and considered a slum. However, this changed in 1931 when Dorothy Porcher Legge and her husband Judge Lionel Legge purchased these houses on East Bay Street.

About Norma Brandsberg
Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
