The Büvetta Tarasp Hall houses the richest mineral springs in the Lower Engadin and the Lucius Spring is considered the strongest mineral spring in Europe. We spent Christmas in the area and I had a chance to photograph this stunning scenery in a snow storm. It is a beautiful region!
Bathing and drinking cures are among the oldest known healing practices, even going back to the Romans who thought healing and pleasure went hand in hand. More than 20 springs bubble out of the rock in the Scuol Tarasp area and are mentioned by Paracelsus as early as 1533. Around 1843, a simple drinking hall, Büvetta was built.
With the construction of the Kurhaus Tarasp, patrons began to arrive. In 1864 a hotel was up and running. The hotel housed 300 guest beds, the latest comforts and the glamorous halls and salons that ladies and gentlemen required. Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
