I expected to find sunny skies on a trip to Botany Bay, State Park, Boneyard Beach on Edisto Island on this day in December, but was greeted by low contrast skies and high tides which covered the causeway over to the two islands you must pass to get there. What I came home with were striking photos highlighting the second life these trees are giving us in photos. What a marvelous day I had.

Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
