One final night remained, near Asheville, North Carolina at Glassmine Overlook. We parked our tiny camper by Glassmine Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway, high up in the mountains at 5,000 ft. It didn't look promising and I packed up my camera equipment to cook dinner. Half hour later I looked out the window and a miraculous sunset was making an appearance, sunbeams slipping through small openings in the clouds. I quickly set up again to capture this photo, proof that maybe second chances do come around from time to time.

Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
