Artist's Description
The old town of Rockville, South Carolina was established in 1784 along Bohicket Creek. The current population is only about 150 people. The district encompasses 19 contributing buildings in the town of Rockville. The dwellings reflect Rockville's historic role as a summer resort town. Charming houses are characterized by spacious porches, raised foundations, and large central hallways designed for summer comfort and relaxation, allowing the summer heat to cool as winds are generated by the setting sun. Located in the district are the Grace Episcopal Church and Wadmalaw Presbyterian Church, two scenic, picturesque old churches.

About Norma Brandsberg
Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better. Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed.
