Arenal Volcano is an active andesitic stratovolcano in north-western Costa Rica around 60 miles northwest of San José, in the province of Alajuela, canton of San Carlos, and district of La Fortuna. The Arenal volcano measures 5,436 ft high. It is conically shaped with a crater almost 500 ft in diameter.
Arenal's eruption from 1968 to 2010 is the tenth longest duration volcanic eruption on Earth since 1750. Since 2010, Arenal has been dormant.
Arenal Volcano is roughly 7,000 years old. It has erupted multiple times, and eruptions seem to follow a somewhat predictable cycle. Small eruptions occur every 300–400 years and large eruptions occur every 600–800 years.

Gradually as my photography got better, I was further encouraged to move to selling and becoming a professional. We are surrounded by beauty, but so much isn't noticed. Photography has encouraged me to create so beauty is noticed and appreciated. I am just a...
