The Castello del Trebbio winery road, north of Florence, unwinds like a sun-bleached ribbon through the heart of Tuscany, cloaked in the golden brushstrokes of a late afternoon sun.

Then, a twist in the road, and the scene transforms. The sun, dipping behind the tuscan hills, throws the road into a dramatic chiaroscuro. The olive groves recede, replaced by a dense curtain of cypress trees, their dark branches casting long, inky shadows that reach across the road like outstretched claws. In this sudden twilight, the air chills, a welcome relief from the day's heat.

But there, ahead, a splash of defiance against the encroaching darkness. A tiny farm truck, its paint weathered to the color of sunbaked clay, rumbles down the road. Headlights, dimmed against the approaching dusk, bathe the truck in a halo of golden amber, making it seem as if it's carrying fragments of captured sunlight.

And as the truck passes, the scent of damp earth and crushed rosemary hangs heavy in the air, a fleeting echo of the tuscan countryside it carries with it. And for a moment, in that space between sun and shadow, the Castello del Trebbio winery road is no longer just a path, but a conduit, transporting the very essence of this timeless land, one sunlit backroad at a time. Set on a 350-hectare estate with vineyards, olive trees and a restored 12th century castle, located near the town of Pontassieve and Florence, Italy.

We spend the morning touring the winery and came back later to enjoy a multi-course dinner in the courtyard of the shadows of the castle overlooking the vineyard from above under the stars lit by romantic candles. What a day it was!
