It was a magical night! This night the total lunar eclipse was supposed to happen I had grand plans for how I was going to capture my eclipse photograph. This view is located in the Jefferson National Forest, part of the Blue Ridge Parkway between Lynchburg and Roanoke, near Bedford and Buchanan, Virginia. Making the trek up is always a labor of love, but when I saw the clouds, I was doubtful any of my grand plans were going to happen. The clouds were too heavy and pervasive. So plan B was in effect. If the clouds are too heavy, maybe the sunset cloud god would bless me and bless me he did. The lighting was fabulous most of the night, but the eclipse only showed for a couple of minutes. The reflection off to the left is the James River leading up ot the head waters near Buchanan.
