Artist's Description
One of the most beautiful passes in the Dolomites.It climbs to overr 2000 m, (6,000 ft) and is a memorable travel road to be sure. My husband calls this the emerald valley. The roads are quite good in this area, resurfaced on a regular basis becauase this route is one of the main attractions for tourists in the Dolomites, especially the road over the Passo Pordoi. Well traveled with cars, motorcycles and cyclists for sure. There was a running road race while we were there in terrible weather conditions. But just look at thos skies. There is a bar on the top of all the passes in the Sella ring (Campolongo).
The Sella Pass is a high mountain pass between the provinces of Trentino and South Tyrol in Italy. It connects the Val Gherdëina in South Tyrol and Canazei in the Fascia Valley in Trentino. With Pordoi Pass, Gardena Pass, and Campolongo Pass, this pass forms a quadrangle around the Sella group.

Like many photographers, I didn't begin the process becoming a professional photographer, as a conscious decision. The decision was a linear progression over many years. I like to travel, so naturally would photograph to document our travels. My before retirement job required I learn the basics of photography and programming using a point and shoot camera. The move to professional photography changed over time. I was encouraged to buy a better camera as my photographs got better.
