Description
Hilton Head Island magic on the water, on a sailing yacht at sunset. This much loved old 1986 Catamaran Hull yacht sailboat has been repurposed for tours out of Harbour Town on Broad Creek. The Stars & Stripes, a real 12 meter America's Cup racing boat was once skippered by the famous Dennis Conner! We saw her once right before she won her race when she was moored in San Diego, shrouded and guarded by divers so her hull and construction secrets would not be revealed to her competition before the race.
Stars & Stripes 87, built in 1986, won the trials to select the challenger and went on to defeat the Australian defender Kookaburra III in a four-race sweep to win the Cup back for the USA.
It was a perfect night for a sail in the low country, the overhead clouds leading the way with mirrored subtle South Carolina low country waves.
