Description
It was a rainy overcast day in the Winton M. Blount Cultural Park, Montgomery, Alabama. Touring with friends in the area I saw this wonderful sculpture off in the distance as it was pouring rain outside. Not to be dissuaded I jumped out of the car and caught this sculpture of running frocking kids jumping over a puddle against one of the museums.

Smithsonian Art Inventory Description: "Six running children, three boys and three girls, are preparing to jump into a puddle. The children are holding hands and are in various states of motion. Three of the figures are anchored to the ground, though all have the appearance of being suspended in air. The figures wear play clothes and are all smiling and laughing."
The sculpture is located in the Wynton M. Blount Cultural Park in Montgomery, Alabama. The sculpture is located on the lawn down from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival's Carolyn Blount Theatre building. The lake is nearby but the sculpture is not close to the water. This is cast number 2/15 of the sculpture. It was purchased from the Fenn Galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1989.
Goodacre, Glenna, 1939 was the artist. Shidoni Foundry, founder.
This has to be one of my favorite artist pieces in this park!
I thought the name of this sculpture was appropriate considering the rain I had to run through to get this photograph!
